We offer a range of services that can take you from the earliest stages of planning and researching your project through the final proofreading and publication or exhibition of your work.

Most projects require a combination of proofreading, editing, and organizational assistance.

Proofreading

The basic function of proofreading is to detect and correct errors on manuscripts or typeset galleys. The level of proofreading required for any project varies, and can include:

  • Checking for typographical errors as well as errors in grammar and usage

  • Checking the accuracy of sequential elements (such as image captions) and references to these elements in the text

  • Where typeset text seems unclear, and where possible, comparing to the manuscript or original source to identify differences that need correction or review

  • Ensuring conformity to the publisher's specifications or style sheet

  • Checking consistency of citation style

Editing

The editing process is fluid: it can and does encompass an array of tasks which are variously deployed depending upon the nature of the document and the requirements of the author.

These editing tasks can range from an analysis of the text in order to improve overall writing quality, organization, and readability to all aspects of preparing a manuscript for publication.

How the editing process will manifest in any given project is determined through examination of the document and discussions between editor and author.

Research Assistance

We conduct research, assist in research, and assist with materials organization for academic and artistic projects:

  • Location and compilation of primary and secondary research materials including statistical information, documents, images, objects, and background materials
